Nag Panchami is one of the important and traditional festivals of worshipping Nag Devta or the Snake God. Every year, this auspicious day is celebrated during the auspicious month of Sawan.

Offering milk to the snake god is the main ritual on Nag Panchami. It is a belief among the people that offerings milk to the Nag Devta on this auspicious day save their families from any evil.

At Satyak Assisted Living residents draw Rangolis of serpents as part of festival. We conducted Nag pujan and organize the prayer. We celebrate every festival to make our residents happy and live a healthy life.

It is believed that the moon is close to earth on this day. Many sages believe that the moonlight on this night have healing power and is beneficial for mind and soul. As the rays of the moon are said to have curative properties, people come out of their house at night to soak in the moonlight. We have made sweets like kheer, sweet milk on this day and are left under the rays of the moon. These sweets are consumed and distributed later as Prasad.

Nag Panchami Celebrations 2022 at Satyak Assisted Living Baner, Pune

The festival, dedicated to snakes, traditionally happens on the fifth day of the month of Shravan, a holy month for Hindus across the country. Some say that Nag Panchami falls during the monsoon months because it is when snakes are most visible, seeking refuge in houses after their underground homes get filled with rainwater. With more snakes slithering around, the festival was formed to appease the snake god and keep people safe.

Makar Sankranti or Maghi is a festival day in the Hindu calendar, in reference to deity Surya (sun). It is observed each year in January. It marks the first day of sun’s transit into the Makara (Capricorn), marking the end of the month with the winter solstice and the start of longer days.

संक्रांत या सणाची महिला आतुतेने वाट पाहतात. संक्रांतीच्या आधल्या दिवशीला भोगी' असे म्हणतात. या दिवशी सुवसनी स्त्रिया विविध भाज्या एकत्र करून भाजी केली जाते त्याला भोगीची भाजी असे म्हणतात. तसेच तीळ लावलेली बाजरीची भाकरी, लोणी असे पदार्थ बनवले जातात. थंडीच्या वातावरणात या पदार्थाची चव चाखणं हे आरोग्याच्या दृष्टीने अत्यंत पोषक आहे. संक्रांतीच्या दिवशी तीळ आणि गुळाचे लाडू, पोळी यांना विशेष महत्व आहे. भूतकालन झालेल्या कडू आठवणींना विसरून त्यात तीळ-गुळाचा गोडवा भरण्यासाठी हे पदार्थ बनवले जातात अशी मान्यता आहे.

Bharatanatyam, a pre-eminent Indian classical dance form presumably the oldest classical dance heritage of India is regarded as mother of many other Indian classical dance forms.
odissi, one of the principal classical dance styles of India; others include bharata natyam, kuchipudi, kathak, kathakali, and manipuri. It is indigenous to Orissa, eastern India, and follows the principles of the Natya-shastra.
Age is no deterrent for senior citizens, Enjoying Bharatanatyam performance at Satyak Assisted Home performed by Mrs Rasika Ghumsate and Mrs Gauri Shukl dancers.
Special thanks for coordinating and making this event happen to Ms Sai Bakshi and Mr Ingalhalikar. Odissi and bharatnatyam dance performance are by one of our patients granddaughter which makes them very happy.

By Light up someone’s life with diwali crafts to their family and loved ones is how our residents at Satyak Assisted Living family started enjoying a week of peace and harmony!

Stick to giving the elderly at Satyak the sweets of their choice (instead of binging on everything that is available) and we also make certain they do not overeat during the festival. With fun activities like passing the ball, singing, dancing and teasing each other, the day went by blissfully for them. Volunteers were amazed to see active participation from the seniors.

It was a memorable days for us, filled with joyful faces. We cherished each moment with seniors. We learned that growing old is normal and natural. We played a small part in doing so in the Diwali event. They blessed us in return. The event was heart-touching. Satyak celebrates Navratri Festival with its theme - "’…..“ऐलमा पैलमा गणेश देवा, माझा खेळ मांडून दे करीन तुझी सेवा….’"

It’s the 6th day of Navrastri and Bhondla, and all the old youngs at Satyak Assisted Living have been excitedly gathered, ready to start celebrating. An elephant has been drawn on a slate, and the singing and dancing has begun! Bhondla, also known as hadga or bhulabai in different parts of Maharashtra, starts on the first day of Navaratri and continues till Kojagiri Purnima. In older days, young girls would get together everyday, each day at a different home, to celebrate and make merry. Girls dance around a picture of an elephant, which is drawn on a slate or with rangoli.
